What is it?

Read-ez is an AR app that helps dyslexic people read. The app transcribes their book page and translates it into "Dyslexie Font" that has been scientifically shown to be more accessible for individuals with dyslexia and autism to read. This app is for anyone with a learning disability that find this font helpful. It was created with education in mind, a quick interactive way for children to read materials they may find challenging.

How does it work?

The user is prompted to scan any physical printed text and the app automatically transcribes the detected words into Dyslexie Font. Additionally the text is placed on an interface with a certain shade of yellow that has been researched and shown to increase reading and retention with those who have learning disabilities. Users have to option to use text-to-speech, increase font size, change colors, search for words, and highlight text.

My Role

This project was created in a User Interface graduate course, in which I was responsible for the research and strategy, to conception, creation, and product design.

My goal

Mainly, I wanted to find a way to help people with dyslexia practice reading in a way where they can remove the barriers of frustration and take advantage of this incredible font for any physical text.
